Peddapalli, July 14 : Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy launched a sharp attack on the ruling Congress and the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Tuesday, accusing both the parties of systematically exploiting the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). He alleged that under the current Congress regime, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, state ministers and MLAs have opened wholesale and retail shops to loot Telangana’s natural resources.
The Union Minister, accompanied by BJP State President Ramachandra Rao, visited the Singareni Open Cast Project in the Ramagundam region of Peddapalli district. During the visit, Kishan Reddy interacted with coal miners to understand their grievances before addressing a large gathering of workers.
Kishan Reddy expressed deep concern over the financial health of the state-owned coal mining giant, which has historically been a highly profitable enterprise. He claimed that under the current Congress administration, Singareni is facing such severe financial distress that the management has to rely on bank overdrafts (OD) just to pay monthly salaries to its workers.
Taking dig at the previous BRS government, Kishan Reddy accused former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family specifically Harish Rao, K.T. Rama Rao, and K. Kavitha of plundering the company’s resources for a decade. He stated that KCR’s policies were directly responsible for Singareni losing out on acquiring new coal blocks over the last ten years.
Highlighting the assets of the 40,000-strong Singareni workforce, the Minister described the Tadicherla and Naini coal blocks as crucial lifelines. He called the Tadicherla project a ‘Baahubali’ asset containing 434 million tonnes of high-quality coal and assured that the Central Government would take all steps to ensure an uninterrupted supply of coal to power, steel, and cement industries across South India.
