Sircilla, July 13 : Rajanna Sircilla District Police have secured the first position in Telangana for the third consecutive year by achieving an outstanding 76.8 percent mobile phone recovery rate. On Monday, District Superintendent of Police (SP) Mahesh B. Githe, handed over 90 recovered smartphones worth Rs.13 lakh, to their rightful owners during a ‘Cell Phone Recovery Mela’ held at the District Police Office.
The police tracked and retrieved these devices from various locations across Telangana and neighbouring states using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) application.
SP Mahesh Githe stated that this achievement highlights the department’s continuous monitoring and effective use of technology to combat mobile theft. He praised IT Core Sub-Inspector Kiran Kumar and Constable Thirumalesh Raja for their dedicated efforts in tracking the lost devices.
The SP advised the public to immediately block their lost or stolen devices through the official CEIR portal (www.ceir.gov.in) and file a report at their local police station to prevent financial fraud. He warned that criminals often bypass weak passwords to steal money via digital payment apps.
Additionally, the SP issued an advisory cautioning citizens against purchasing second-hand mobile phones without official bills. He also warned that buying stolen phones, even unknowingly, leads to serious legal trouble, and strict criminal action will be taken against those who knowingly purchase stolen property. Additional SP Chandraiah, RI Suresh and other police officials were present at the event.
