Hanumakonda, July 17 : Energy Department Special Chief Secretary Navin Mittal on Friday called for the extensive adoption of advanced technology to strengthen the power sector and enhance consumer services. He made these remarks during a high-level video conference review meeting with senior officials at the TGNPDCL Corporate Office in Nakkalagutta of Hanumakonda district.
Presiding over the session, TGNPDCL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Karnati Varun Reddy presented a series of strategic initiatives through a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation. The roadmap highlighted several forward-looking projects, including solar energy expansion, battery storage systems, automated load analysis, streamlined consumer applications, and corporate social responsibility efforts.
A major focus of the meeting was the implementation of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to ensure reliable and cost-effective electricity during peak evening hours. The CMD revealed that TGNPDCL has proposed three alternative models for BESS and is currently preparing a pilot project to install these storage facilities at 18 identified substations.
Additionally, the company has completed a scientific load analysis for 971 substations across 18 circles. Based on these findings, TGNPDCL plans to optimize its infrastructure by relocating power transformers between nearby stations, balancing loads, and enhancing capacity where needed to prevent outages.
To improve ease of doing business, the utility has launched a single online application system for consumers requiring multiple electricity connections in apartments and commercial complexes. The initiative ensures transparent fee structures and speeds up the approval process. Special Chief Secretary Navin Mittal concluded by directing officials to actively monitor substation loads and upgrade digital portals for smoother consumer interactions.
