Karimnagar, July 18 : City Mayor Kolagani Srinivas stated that chess is an exceptional intellectual sport that enhances critical thinking, concentration and analytical skills among students. Speaking as the chief guest at a local youth chess tournament here in Karimnagar on Saturday, the Mayor emphasized that the game goes beyond entertainment to build patience and strategic decision-making capacities crucial for academic and life success.
The tournament, aimed at fostering intellectual development in children, was organized by Director Anup. Commending the initiative, Mayor Srinivas remarked that such platforming helps cultivate problem-solving mindsets in youngsters. He expressed pride that players from Telangana are representing the state in the upcoming World Chess Championship and shared his optimism that young talent from Karimnagar will soon replicate this success on international platforms.
Encouraging the participants, the Mayor urged students to accept both victory and defeat gracefully while pursuing their goals with continuous practice and discipline. He lauded Director Anup for successfully hosting the event and extended his best wishes to all the players.
The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Y. Sunil Rao, Corporator K. APP Chandra, and sports association presidents Janardhan Reddy, Srinivas and Kanakaiah.
