Jagtial, Oct.6 : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Karimnagar Range, conducted a surprise raid on the Unit Office of the Transport Department in Korutla, Jagtial district, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. During the operation, officials inspected office records, pending applications, and financial transactions, uncovering several operational flaws and illegal practices.
Investigators found that a transport constable, identified as N. Girish Kumar, was unauthorizedly conducting driving tests and verifying vehicle registrations in the absence of the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI). The inspection revealed that office staff were collecting excess money from the general public through unauthorized middlemen in exchange for official favors.
The raid highlighted serious procedural lapses, including direct access for agents to private applications and staff processing, poor maintenance of official registers, and a complete lack of supervisory control over subordinate staff. Additionally, the driving test track lacked required departmental signboards and failed to meet basic safety standards prescribed by the Transport Department.
Following the raid, the ACB appealed to the public to report any bribe demands by public servants using the toll-free number 1064 or via WhatsApp (9440446106) and social media handles. Authorities assured that the identity of complainants will be kept strictly confidential.
