Mulugu, Oct.6 : District Collector Borkhade Hemant Sahadevrao warned the public and administrative officials not to respond to fraudulent WhatsApp messages being circulated by cybercriminals using his name and photograph. The Collector issued a official statement on Tuesday urging everyone to remain vigilant against such online scams.
Collector Sahadevrao clarified that fraudsters are using his profile picture on an unidentified number (+66 98 476 2993) to send fake messages to district staff and citizens. He advised recipients to immediately block the number, report it on WhatsApp, and refrain from engaging with any requests originating from suspicious, unknown contacts.
The Collector emphasized that cybercriminals often impersonate high-ranking officials to gain trust and orchestrate financial frauds. He strictly instructed officials and the public never to transfer money, purchase gift cards, or share sensitive personal details, bank account information, or confidential passwords based on these unauthorized messages.
He further urged citizens to report any suspicious messages received in his name directly to the cybercrime police department. Reminding the community to exercise caution, Collector Sahadevrao appealed to everyone to stay alert to prevent falling victim to cyber frauds.
