Mulugu, Oct.10 : The technical team of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Hyderabad Circle, conducted comprehensive geotechnical investigations to evaluate the ground sub-strata at the historic Ramappa Temple complex in Palampet. The testing was carried out in the newly completed foundation area of the Kameshwaralaya shrine to assess the improved and stabilized soil conditions prior to resetting the removed structural members of the monument.
The technical assessment was executed in association with MTLS Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, and retired geotechnical experts from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal. As part of the investigation, experts performed Plate Load Tests and collected undisturbed soil samples from specified cones in strict adherence to IS Code Standards 1888 and 2720. The scientific tests aim to verify the load-bearing capacity and structural safety of the reinforced base before re-erecting the temple superstructure.
The ASI recently completed the foundation strengthening work for the Kameshwaralaya at an expenditure of Rs 2.89 crore. Furthermore, the approval process for tenders worth Rs 6.89 crore, floated for the complete resetting and restoration of the Kameshwaralaya superstructure, is currently in the final pipeline. Once approved, reconstruction work will begin using traditional conservation methods to restore the heritage structure to its original glory.
