Hanumakonda, Oct.12 : Former Government Chief Whip and BRS District Unit President Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar declared that the Bathukamma festival stands as a symbol of self-respect and pride for the women of Telangana. Under his leadership, BRS party leaders celebrated the floral festival at the district party office, arranging colourful Bathukammas and playing the traditional folk dance alongside local women at Vaddepally Bund.
The celebrations witnessed the participation of several senior BRS women leaders, including former Minister Satyavathi Rathod, former Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, former Government Whip Gongidi Sunitha, former Zilla Parishad Chairperson and BRS Women’s Wing President Tula Uma, and Vinay Bhaskar’s wife, Dasyam Revathi Bhaskar. Speaking on the occasion, Vinay Bhaskar extended warm festival greetings to all participating women and highlighted that the unique festival worships nature and flowers.
Addressing the gathering, Vinay Bhaskar asserted that whether in power or opposition, the BRS party always accords top priority to Telangana culture, traditions, and the honor of its women. He recalled that during the tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, the state government officially conducted the nine-day Bathukamma festival on a grand scale across all districts, supporting women at every step.
Critiquing the current administration, the former Chief Whip alleged that under Revanth Reddy’s Congress government, women are facing hardships during the festival due to power cuts, burnt electrical transformers, and dried-up water bodies. He claimed that the lack of water in local tanks has left women distressed while attempting to immerse their Bathukammas, accusing the state government of creating hurdles instead of facilitating joyous celebrations.
