Hanumakonda, Oct.12 : The historic Sri Bhadrakali Temple in Warangal, famed as the Kakatiya dynasty capital Ekashila Nagaram, witnessed grand celebrations on the second day of the Devi Sharannavaratri festival. Following the early morning rituals at 4:00 AM, temple priests decorated the presiding deity as Goddess Annapoorneshwari. Special worship was offered to the Goddess as Brahmacharini in the morning and Devaja Durga in the evening.
In the morning, the deity was taken out in a procession on the Makara Vahanam in the attire of Ganga Bhavani, which devotees believe wards off water-related dangers. In the evening, the Goddess was processed on the Chandraprabha Vahanam as Rajarajeshwari, a ritual believed to grant mental stability and focus. Temple Chief Priest Bhadrakali Seshu explained that worshipping the deity as Annapoorneshwari ensures devotees are blessed with food security and spiritual wisdom, while Goddess Devaja Durga protects seekers from evil forces.
Following the morning and evening processions, women devotees actively participated in collective Kumkumarchana programs organized at the temple’s Maha Mandapam. Several prominent donors and sponsor families, including representatives from Surya Kutir, Geetha Bhavan, and Raghavendra Tiffins, served as official hosts for the day’s religious rituals.
The evening festivities featured vibrant cultural programs, including Harikatha recitals, devotional songs, Carnatic music, and Kuchipudi dance performances, captivating the attending devotees. Executive Officer Ramala Sunitha oversaw the smooth conduct of the day’s devotional and cultural events.
