Karimnagar, July 23 : In a major development following the midnight robbery at Bhagat Nagar in Karimnagar, police special teams have recovered two stolen motorcycles abandoned near the Kakatiya Canal (SRSP) in Pedda Papayyapalli, on the outskirts of Huzurabad. The recovery has shifted the momentum of the investigation, providing crucial physical evidence as multi-district police units track the fleeing inter-state gang.
The breakthrough occurred after local villagers noticed two two-wheelers parked under suspicious circumstances near the canal bund and alerted the authorities. Huzurabad ACP Vasamsetti Madhavi, along with Karimnagar DCP Venkataramana, Senior Inspectors, and forensic Clues teams, rushed to the spot to cordon off the area. Technical experts and dog squads were immediately deployed to analyze tire tracks, lift latent fingerprints, and gather scent leads from the abandoned vehicles.
Investigation revealed that the gang had ridden the bikes from Karimnagar town via the Warangal highway before dumping them near the canal. CCTV footage retrieved from a fuel station along the Karimnagar Bypass showed five masked suspects riding the two vehicles. Attendants reported that the gang attempted to fill fuel using cash, but sped away without refuelling the second bike due to a missing fuel-cap key—an error that likely forced the gang to abandon the vehicles shortly afterward.
Police suspect the perpetrators intentionally dumped the motorcycles near the SRSP canal bund to bypass main road check-posts and evade highway surveillance cameras. Police are exploring whether the gang escaped further on foot through rural pathways to board heavy transport trucks along the national highway, or boarded northbound trains from nearby railway stations, including Uppal, Jammikunta, and Kazipet.
