Karimnagar, July 18 : A formal representation was submitted to Transport and Backward Class Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar at the State Secretariat here in Hyderabad on Saturday, urging the immediate introduction of city bust services within the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation limits.
The memorandum was presented by City Congress Committee President and Corporator Vaidyula Anjan Kumar to address the growing public transportation needs of the city.
The representation highlighted Karimnagar’s rapid urban expansion, noting that the corporation’s population has surged to six lakh following the recent merger of 14 surrounding villages. Furthermore, the city has emerged as a major institutional hub, currently housing three medical colleges and Satavahana University.
The absence of a dedicated city bus network forces thousands of students, patients, employees, and daily commuters to rely on expensive private transport, imposing a heavy financial burden on them.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar responded positively to the appeal and assured the delegation that he would consult transport department officials to take a swift decision on commissioning the bus services.
Block Congress President Saini Tirupati, Mandal Congress President Kamireddy Ram Reddy and Congress leader Penta Shekar were also part of the visiting delegation.
