Karimnagar, Sept.18 : BJP State Spokesperson and Deputy Mayor Yadagiri Sunil Rao stated that central government funds provided under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s initiative have transformed the infrastructure of Karimnagar city. Addressing a press conference at the SBS Function Hall on Friday, September 18, 2026, he asserted that major central grants have accelerated developmental works across every municipal sector.
Highlighting specific infrastructure projects, the Deputy Mayor noted that ₹934 crore was released for Karimnagar under the Smart City initiative, with 40 out of 46 approved projects completed and the remaining six in their final stages. He added that Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar secured ₹132 crore under the AMRUT scheme to construct new water tanks, filter beds, and distribution pipelines, delivering reliable daily drinking water to local residents.
Addressing criticisms from opposition political parties, Sunil Rao questioned whether previous Congress or BRS administrations had introduced comprehensive city development plans. He listed ongoing central projects, including the completed Karimnagar-Hanamkonda national highway, the sanctioned Jagtial-Karimnagar road expansion, railway station modernization, overbridges, and ₹840 crore sanctioned under the UCF project, urging opposition leaders to request similar funds instead of leveling groundless allegations.
Reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to urban welfare, Sunil Rao assured residents that pending projects will be completed swiftly to make Karimnagar a model city. Corporators Somidi Venu, Ponnam Lakshmi, Nampalli Renuka, and Karre Padma were among the party leaders and municipal representatives present at the news conference.
