Khammam, Oct.17 : District Civil Supplies Officer Chandan Kumar announced that strict legal action will be taken against rice millers committing irregularities and defaulting on Custom Milled Rice (CMR) delivery. Acting on directions from the District Collector, civil supplies and vigilance authorities have intensified surprise inspections across rice mills in the district to curb stock discrepancies.
Following recent complaints in Nelakondapalli mandal, authorities conducted an unexpected inspection at Durga Bhavani Rice Mill, where they identified severe delays in CMR delivery. The mill owner was issued a stern directive to clear all pending rice stocks within the stipulated deadline or face severe penalties. Over the past two months, vigilance inspections across 15 mills uncovered grain shortages totaling ₹64.63 crore in dues, out of which authorities have successfully recovered ₹47.81 crore. Following repeated unheeded warnings, criminal cases have been formally registered against two major defaulters alongside three other millers caught with physical stock shortages during routine field inspections.
The Civil Supplies Department is conducting weekly physical verifications every Wednesday using the PV-App (Physical Verification App), supported by special oversight teams from the Commissioner’s office to ensure transparency. Officials cautioned millers that any future discrepancies or intentional delays in government rice delivery will attract immediate criminal prosecution and cancellation of milling licenses.
