Jangaon, Sept.25 : District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr. Vanishree, accompanied by a team of medical officers, paid an inspection visit to the Velugu Girls Residential School in Palakurthi mandal of Jangaon district on Friday. The inspection was carried out on the instructions of the District Collector following the recent rat bite incident that affected several residential students at the campus.
During the visit, Dr. Vanishree interacted with nearly 400 to 500 students residing on the campus to assess their health and well-being. She confirmed that no fresh bite marks, injuries, or symptoms of fever were observed among the remaining students. Interacting directly with the girls, the DM&HO emphasized the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and instructed them to immediately report any physical discomfort, sanitation issues, or unexpected incidents to their class teachers and school management without hesitation.
To ensure the safety of the affected students, Dr. Vanishree directed the Palakurthi Primary Health Centre (PHC) medical team to administer all remaining follow-up doses of the Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) directly on the school premises under strict medical supervision. She also instructed school authorities to urgently fit protective wire mesh on all doors and windows to prevent the entry of rodents, snakes, scorpions, and other pests. Program Officer Dr. Siddhartha Reddy, Medical Officers Dr. Swapna and Dr. Javed, along with healthcare staff, accompanied the DM&HO during the inspection.
