Clashing groups arrested for assault and obstructing cops
Bhadradri Kothagudem, Sept.25 : High tension prevailed on the premises of the Kothagudem Three-Town Police Station in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Friday after two rival factions of a family engaged in a violent physical clash inside the station compound. The incident occurred while most of the local police staff were actively deployed on Ganesh immersion bandobast duties, leading to quick police intervention and subsequent arrests.
The dispute arose over an ongoing family quarrel between Koradala Kumar and his wife Vinoda, prompting members of both families to reach the police station to lodge formal complaints against each other. However, a heated argument quickly escalated into physical violence within the station precincts. According to police reports, a man named Dunnapothula Raju sustained a bleeding nose injury after being struck with a brick/stone, while a woman named Venkatamallu was physically assaulted and pulled by her hair during the brawl.
When police personnel on duty attempted to intervene and restore order, members of both groups pushed the officers aside, obstructing them from discharging their public duties. Taking a serious view of the breach of peace, Three-Town police registered cases against individuals from both sides, placed them under arrest, and produced them before the magistrate, who remanded them to judicial custody. Kothagudem DSP Adinarayana warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who creates law and order issues inside police establishments or obstructs public servants on duty.
