Karimnagar, July-15 : Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar urged citizens to actively participate in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, warning that negligence could lead to the deletion of their votes.
Speaking to the media after personally filling out and submitting his enumeration form to a Booth Level Officer (BLO) at Sadhana School in Chaitanyapuri on Wednesday, the Minister stressed that holding a Voter ID card alone does not guarantee the right to vote, one’s name must be actively present in the official voter list. He urged voters not to wait until the last minute and to complete the verification process before the July 24 deadline.
Expressing concern over the slow progress of the revision process, Sanjay reviewed the local enumeration data with election officials. Officials informed the Minister that despite the fast-approaching deadline, only 50 percent of voters across Telangana have submitted their filled enumeration forms so far.
The Minister made a special appeal to the youth, urging them to shift their focus from social media debates to real democratic participation. He asked young citizens to take charge of their families’ voter listings and ensure that no valid vote in their households is lost due to administrative errors or public oversight. He described the SIR process not as a political activity, but as a vital exercise to protect democracy.
He concluded by stating that spending ten minutes today to verify names in the electoral roll would safeguard the public’s power to question leaders and shape the future of the nation.
