Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Sept.22 : The Jayashankar Bhupalpally District Principal Court on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, sentenced a man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹10,000 for sexually assaulting a minor girl and abetting her suicide. Principal District Judge J. Jeevan Kumar delivered the verdict after prosecution evidence proved the charges beyond doubt.
According to police, the incident took place on December 9, 2021, when the victim, a minor girl from Dhanwada village in Kataram mandal, was waiting at a local bus stop to travel to Kataram for Aadhaar card updates. The accused, Golkonda Rajasekhar, offered her a lift on his motorcycle. However, Rajasekhar redirected the vehicle, took her to his room near Chinthakani Crossroad, and sexually assaulted her. He subsequently dropped her off at Kataram center after threatening to kill her if she revealed the assault.
Distressed by the ordeal, the victim consumed pesticide in Kataram and returned home. Her health deteriorated rapidly, and she succumbed while undergoing medical treatment at MGM Hospital in Warangal. Following a complaint lodged by her uncle—who was raising her as her parents had passed away Kataram police registered a case. Former Kataram Inspector Ranjith Rao arrested the accused, completed the investigation, and filed a charge sheet in court.
Current Kataram DSP Suryanarayana, Inspector Nagarjuna Rao, SI Ch. Srinivas, and court liaison personnel presented witnesses and technical evidence during the trial, while Public Prosecutors N. Vishnuvardhan Rao and G. Venkatram presented arguments. Following the conviction, Bhupalpally District Superintendent of Police Sirishetti Sankeerth commended the police officers and court staff for their methodical investigation that secured justice.
