The Endowments Minister Konda Surekha offered Maru Bonam at the famous Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad
Hyderabad, August 11 : The Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, offered Maru Bonam at the famous Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad on Tuesday as part of the ongoing Ashada Bonalu festival. She performed special prayers at the shrine and sought the goddess’s blessings for the health, peace, and prosperity of the people of Telangana.
Upon her arrival, the Minister received a traditional welcome led by Endowments Director Hanumantha Rao, Assistant Commissioner Manohar Reddy, and temple priests, accompanied by rhythmic drumbeats (dappu) and cultural performances by Shivasattulus. Following the rituals, Minister Surekha personally presented sarees and traditional gift items (sare) to women devotees who participated in carrying the bonam.
Speaking to the media after the prayers, Minister Surekha emphasized that preparing Maru Bonam from the rice offered to the deity is a distinct and sacred tradition in Telangana’s rich cultural heritage. She expressed immense pride in celebrating the Ashada Bonalu festival, calling it a true symbol of the state’s vibrant identity and unity.
Concluding her visit, the Minister appreciated the public for their active participation and cooperation. She noted that the combined efforts of the state government’s arrangements and community support have ensured that this year’s Bonalu celebrations are being conducted on a grand and joyous scale across the region.
