Siddipet, Sept.24 : A major accident was averted at the Husnabad TSRTC bus station in Siddipet district on Thursday evening after a section of the concrete ceiling collapsed at platform number seven, which caters to buses plying on the Siddipet and Secunderabad routes. The incident occurred during off-peak hours when no commuters were waiting at the platform, preventing potential injuries or casualties among passengers.
Local officials and eyewitnesses attributed the ceiling collapse to continuous rains over the past three days, which led to water seepage and weakened the plaster structure. The impact of the fallen debris created panic among commuters present in other parts of the terminal, highlighting concerns regarding the structural safety of the building.
Passengers and local residents pointed out that several other sections of the bus station roof are in a precarious condition and exhibit visible cracks due to persistent water logging. Expressing anxiety over safety hazards during the monsoon season, commuters urged TSRTC authorities and district officials to inspect the entire structure immediately and carry out necessary emergency repairs to prevent future mishaps.
