Warangal, Oct.8 : Surprise inspections conducted by the Vigilance and Enforcement Department have exposed major infrastructural deficiencies, fake faculty lists, and financial irregularities across prominent private engineering colleges in the undivided Warangal district. Acting on state government directives, vigilance teams raided several leading institutions, causing panic among college managements that rely heavily on attractive brochures and marketing campaigns.
During the inspections, officials found severe lapses regarding AICTE compliance, including inadequate laboratory facilities, poorly maintained libraries, and a lack of qualified teaching faculty matching student ratios. Investigations revealed that several institutions maintained faculty members only on paper while failing to pay regular salaries. Additionally, students were found lacking basic practical training and skill development programs necessary for employment.
The vigilance team placed special focus on the potential misuse of government fee reimbursement and scholarship funds. Officials thoroughly examined student biometric attendance records, pass percentages, and class attendance to verify allegations that some management bodies drew reimbursement funds for non-attending students. Records related to management quota seats were also seized to investigate whether institutions collected excessive fees beyond government-fixed caps.
Inspections have already been completed across nine major institutions, including SR, Vaagdevi, Sumathi, KITS, SVS, VMR, Christu Jyoti, Jayamukhi, and Balaji engineering colleges. Efforts by college associations to stall the raids through high-level lobbying in Hyderabad proved unsuccessful. Vigilance DSP Mallaiah confirmed that comprehensive reports detailing the violations of each college are being submitted to the state government, which is expected to take strict legal and administrative action based on the findings.
