Hanumakonda, Oct.4 : Former Government Chief Whip and former MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar characterized the reduction of wages for outsourcing workers at the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) as an unjust and deplorable move. Demanding immediate government intervention to resolve the workers’ grievances, he urged authorities to restore their salaries to previous levels without delay.
Representatives of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) labor wing along with GWMC outsourcing employees submitted a memorandum to Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, bringing their grievances to his attention. Addressing the gathering, Vinay Bhaskar recalled that the Congress party had promised a minimum monthly wage of ₹25,000 for municipal workers in its election manifesto. He expressed strong displeasure that instead of fulfilling this promise, authorities categorized workers into four brackets and reduced the salaries of approximately 519 outsourcing employees across various municipal departments.
Vinay Bhaskar pointed out that during the previous BRS regime, municipal workers’ wages were increased to between ₹16,500 and ₹23,500 in recognition of their essential services. He criticized the government for imposing severe financial burdens on labor families by slashing existing pay scales despite rising inflation and living costs. Reaffirming that the BRS would stand by the workers, he warned of intensifying public agitations unless the government honors its commitment to provide a minimum wage of ₹25,000. BRS labor wing convener Naini Ravi, Municipal Workers’ Union president Advocate Ramamurthy, and union leaders participated in the program.
