Karimnagar, July 27 : Municipal Corporation (KMC) Mayor Kolagani Srinivas praised the supreme sacrifices of Indian Armed Forces personnel guarding the country’s borders and called upon the youth to emulate their discipline, patriotism and spirit of service.
Attending a joint commemoration event marking Kargil Vijay Diwas and the death anniversary of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam organized by the local Lions Club, Mayor Srinivas paid rich tributes to fallen soldiers. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the extreme operational hardships faced by jawans deployed along icy border regions in sub-zero temperatures dropping to minus 5 degrees Celsius.
Recalling his personal travel experience to Srinagar, Kargil, and Lal Chowk in 2009, Srinivas noted that he witnessed stone-pelting incidents against CRPF personnel firsthand. He stated that following the abrogation of Article 370, peace, stability, and development have significantly improved across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Mayor praised former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and scientist-statesman Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for strengthening India’s defense and nuclear capabilities through the Pokhran nuclear tests.
He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the military has gained further technological advancement. Emphasizing the role of youth in achieving the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, Srinivas encouraged young people to take responsibility for national progress. Corporators Yennam Lakshmi Prakash, Karre Padma Anil, Gaja Rama Shivaram, along with retired army personnel and Lions Club members participated in the event.
