Rajanna Sircilla, July 21 : Media persons from across Rajanna Sircilla district staged a massive protest at the District Collectorate despite heavy downpours, demanding the immediate issuance of long-overdue accreditation cards to eligible journalists.
The ‘Chalo Collectorate’ rally was organized under the banner of the Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ-H143).
Led by TUWJ District President Laeeq Pasha, Electronic Media President Praveen Kumar, and General Secretary Gattu Samala, press representatives gathered in large numbers to highlight administrative apathy.
Addressing the demonstration, union leaders expressed deep concern over months-long delays, pointing out that working journalists are being deprived of official recognition, health benefits, welfare schemes, and travel concessions.
District leaders termed the situation humiliating for the media community, noting that journalists are currently forced to renew their bus passes up to six times in six months due to lack of official accreditation. They urged the government to establish a transparent mechanism to issue cards promptly to all eligible applicants, warning of intensified state-wide agitation if their demands are ignored.
The protest concluded after a senior Collectorate official met the union leaders, accepted a formal memorandum, and assured them that the issues would be brought to the District Collector’s attention for swift resolution.
