Warangal, Sept.11 : In a major boost to regional rail infrastructure, the Union Government has approved a 110-kilometer multi-tracking (fourth line) project between Ghatkesar and Kazipet at an estimated cost of ₹2,419 crore. The project, aimed at clearing severe congestion along the vital Hyderabad-Kazipet main rail route, is targeted for completion by 2029-30.
The additional line will eliminate long waiting times caused by train crossings along the busy Hyderabad-Warangal corridor. Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district serves as a key connecting link between the two urban hubs, with thousands of daily commuters including employees, students, businessmen, and patients—traveling from stations such as Bibinagar, Bhongir, Yadagirigutta, and Alair. The enhanced capacity will drastically improve train speeds and operational punctuality across the region.
The expansion will also significantly benefit pilgrims visiting the famous Yadagirigutta (Yadadri) temple by enabling South Central Railway to run dedicated special services during festivals and peak seasons. Furthermore, the fourth track is expected to drive economic growth in local industrial sectors by expediting freight movement for essential commodities such as cement, steel, coal, fertilizers, and petroleum products.
