Kalvakuntla Kavitha leads student protest at Hanumakonda over fee reimbursement dues
Hanumakonda, Sept.7 : Telangana Rakshana Sena Chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha staged a protest outside the Hanumakonda Collectorate, demanding the immediate release of pending fee reimbursement dues and scholarships for students. The demonstration turned intense when authorities initially denied entry to students, leading Kavitha and the protesters to sit on the road in the harsh heat for nearly half an hour.
Following the sit-in, district officials yielded to the pressure and permitted Kavitha along with a delegation of students to enter the premises. Addressing the media, Kavitha criticized the state government for failing to clear fee reimbursement dues for the past three years. She stated that delay in payments has brought small private colleges to the brink of closure and left poor students struggling without necessary scholarships and promised incentives.
Kavitha later met Hanumakonda District Collector Chahat Bajpai and submitted a formal memorandum outlining the grievances of the students. She highlighted that private college managements are withholding course completion certificates from students due to unpaid dues, leaving their academic and career prospects in jeopardy. She urged the government to take up the issue in the ongoing Assembly sessions and resolve it immediately.
Responding to the representation, Collector Chahat Bajpai acknowledged the severity of the issue, noting that several students visit the weekly Prajavani grievance program with similar complaints regarding held-up certificates. The Collector assured the delegation that she is actively liaising with college managements to resolve individual certificate disputes and promised to forward the memorandum to higher authorities in the state government for prompt action.
