Narayanpet, Sept.8 : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana has registered a case of criminal misconduct against Lagisetty Venkat Swamy, Sub-Registrar (Grade-II) at the Narayanpet District Sub-Registrar Office, alongside a private individual, Kammari Nagesh, for demanding and accepting bribes to process official documents.
According to the ACB Press Note (No. 130), the Sub-Registrar demanded a bribe of ₹90,000 from a complainant on July 18, 2026, to process and complete a house registration (Document No. 4723/2026). Subsequently, on July 21, 2026, Venkat Swamy accepted ₹50,000 as partial payment through Kammari Nagesh, who runs a local eatery (‘Inti Bojanam Mess’), and demanded the remaining balance of ₹40,000 to deliver the official favor.
Following an official probe establishing that the officer acted improperly and dishonestly to secure undue financial advantage, the ACB took both individuals into custody. The bureau confirmed that both the Sub-Registrar and the private accomplice are being produced before the Principal Additional Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases at Nampally, Hyderabad, for judicial remand.
The ACB withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons and urged the public to report any bribe demands by government employees via their toll-free helpline (1064) or through official WhatsApp and social media channels, assuring complete confidentiality for whistleblowers.
