Karimnagar, Sept. 9 : Karimnagar Town ACP Venkataswamy stated that the police have arrested a 28-year-old man for stealing an official police patrol vehicle parked on the premises of the Karimnagar Rural Police Station. The stolen Innova Crysta vehicle (TS-09-PA-3794), valued at approximately ₹13 lakh, was successfully recovered.
The incident occurred on the night of September 7, around 11:45 PM, after routine patrolling duties ended and officers parked the vehicle in the station compound. Upon reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area, police identified the suspect as Mohammed Aijaz (28). Finding the vehicle unlocked with the key left inside, Aijaz took advantage of the lapse and drove off with the patrol car. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was suffering from severe mental stress and anxiety due to domestic disputes following a separation from his wife.
Following a complaint lodged by a responsible police official, a case was registered at the Karimnagar One-Town Police Station under Section 305(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police arrested Aijaz, recovered the vehicle, and produced him before the court, which subsequently remanded him to judicial custody. Meanwhile, departmental disciplinary action has been initiated against the police vehicle driver for negligence on duty.
