Khammam, Sept.8 : Khammam Traffic Police took stern action against noise pollution by destroying 400 modified motorcycle silencers using a road roller at the Police Headquarters. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Ramanujam stated that a special drive was launched against modified silencers fitted on Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles causing severe disturbance to the public.
Speaking on the occasion, ADCP Ramanujam urged vehicle owners to use only original company-fitted silencers on their two-wheelers. He strictly warned that altering silencers to produce excessive noise creates public nuisance and poses health risks, especially to elderly citizens and patients. He emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against anyone violating traffic noise regulations.
The police official highlighted that the department remains committed to controlling noise pollution and ensuring public peace across the city. He revealed that in a previous drive, Khammam police had similarly seized and crushed 1,654 modified Bullet silencers. Traffic ACP Srinivasulu, Armed Reserve (AR) ACP Sushil Singh, and Inspectors Satyanarayana and Appala Naidu were present during the destruction drive.
