Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Sept.8 : Construction work on the long-awaited Gandhamalla Reservoir in Alair constituency has formally commenced, marking a significant milestone for local farmers. Telangana Government Whip and Alair MLA Beerla Ailaiah performed the traditional Bhumi Puja (groundbreaking ceremony) for the project at Gandhamalla village in Turkapally mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
The ceremony follows the foundation stone laid earlier by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at Tirmalapuram. Driven by the Chief Minister’s vision and initiative from MLA Beerla Ailaiah, the state government is executing the prestigious project with a water storage capacity of 1.41 TMC (Thousand Million Cubic Feet).
Speaking at the event, Government Whip Ailaiah stated that once completed, the reservoir will provide abundant irrigation water to nearly 58,000 acres of ayacut across Alair constituency and neighboring mandals. He highlighted that the project will transform the regional agrarian landscape, significantly recharge groundwater levels, and offer long-term water security to local farmers. He assured that the government is committed to completing the reservoir within the set timeframe while maintaining high-quality standards.
