WARANGAL, OCT.26 : A special court in Warangal has convicted Kurru Kumara Swamy, Panchayat Secretary of Shayampet village and mandal, in a long-standing corruption case dating back to 2008. Kshama Deshpande, Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases-cum-III Additional District and Sessions Judge, delivered the verdict on Monday, sentencing the accused officer to two years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹10,000.
The case originated on September 6, 2008, when the official demanded and accepted a bribe of ₹4,000 from a local complainant. The illegal gratification was extracted in exchange for processing an official favour, specifically preparing a house rent bill amounting to approximately ₹25,500 for a building housing a local Veterinary Dispensary and issuing the corresponding check to the claimant. Following a thorough investigation and trial under Crime Number 10/ACB-WRL/2008 and C.C. Number 05/2024, the court found him guilty under Sections 7 and 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
