ADILABAD, OCT.27 : Allegations regarding the diversion and misuse of government funds allocated for rural development have sparked widespread debate across Adilabad district. Local residents and public representatives have raised serious doubts over expenditures related to drinking water supply, street lighting, sanitation, and internal road construction. Complaints indicate that bills are frequently being claimed without completing actual ground-level works, while fabricated vouchers are allegedly being used to siphon public funds in several mandals.
In Adilabad Rural mandal’s Yapalguda village, local residents have expressed deep skepticism regarding panchayat administration, certificate issuance, and development bills, leading approximately 200 villagers to submit a formal joint petition to the District Collector. Similar grievances emerged in Battisavargaon of Mavala mandal, where Up-Sarpanch Ashamma filed a formal complaint during Prajavani, accusing the local leadership of drawing fraudulent bills under the guise of LED bulb purchases, tractor diesel, and water supply expenses. Furthermore, allegations have surfaced in Malepur village of Narnoor mandal that measurement book (MB) records were entered without mandatory gram panchayat resolutions.
Similar demands for thorough audits and transparent inquiries are growing in Utnoor, Indervelly, Bela, and Talamadugu mandals. Citizens and activists have urged district authorities to meticulously inspect panchayat records, financial transactions, resolutions, and payment vouchers to verify discrepancies.
Responding to the mounting complaints, District Panchayat Officer Ramesh assured that comprehensive inquiries will be initiated. He stated that departmental teams will thoroughly examine relevant records, bills, and payment histories across the accused gram panchayats. Asserting that strict administrative action will be taken against individuals found guilty of violating regulations, the official promised enhanced oversight to ensure public funds are transparently utilized for genuine rural development.
