HYDERABAD, OCT.27 : The Gadchiroli police successfully busted a major Maoist hideout in the remote forests of Maharashtra, unearthing and seizing a massive cache of hidden weapons, explosives, and combat gear. Acting on specific intelligence, security forces launched a special anti-naxal operation on October 27, 2026, dealing a significant blow to underground extremist networks and freeing local residents from the persistent threat of insurgent violence.
Based on credible inputs regarding concealed ammunition within the Mauja Machuvancha forest under Poste Vangeturi limits, Superintendent of Police M. Ramesh mobilized four specialized C-60 commando units and a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team. Under the direct supervision of senior police leadership including Additional Superintendents of Police Kartik Madheera, Gokul Raj G., Harshvardhan B.J., and Deputy SP (Operations) Sunil Uyike, the teams combed the dense terrain to neutralize potential security hazards.
During the extensive search operation, security forces recovered 12 claymores, one 12-bore rifle, three single-shot rifles, one air gun, an IED explosive bottle, a live claymore mine, a wireless mic set, a lower handguard, 100 twine bombs, and five pairs of Maoist uniforms with green cloth materials. Following strict safety protocols and higher guidance, the bomb disposal squad safely destroyed multiple live explosives and sensitive materials directly at the site to prevent any accidental detonation or misuse.
Commending the participating officers and personnel for their swift and professional execution, Superintendent M. Ramesh reiterated that Gadchiroli district has largely eradicated left-wing extremism, liberating local citizens from years of fear and intimidation. Officials emphasized that security forces remain on high alert to track down remnants of insurgent factions operating along remote interstate borders, ensuring lasting peace and public safety across the region.
