Hanumakonda, Sept.5 : Internal strife within the Congress party in the combined Warangal district has surfaced following the hasty appointment of former Rajya Sabha MP Gundu Sudharani as the new Chairperson of the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA). The sudden transition, which saw former Chairman Inugala Venkatram Reddy exit without a formal farewell ceremony, has reignited the bitter “Original Congress vs. Parachute Congress” debate among party leaders.
The political rift deepened as outgoing chairman Venkatram Reddy skipped the oath-taking ceremony of the new chairperson. Local party cadres expressed dissatisfaction over the abrupt nature of the leadership change, alleging that long-serving, loyal Congress workers are being overlooked in favor of leaders who recently defected from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Disgruntled party workers claimed that a faction of former TDP leaders who joined the Congress has formed a dominant group within the district unit. They alleged that this group enjoys the backing of key high-command leaders in Hyderabad, enabling them to secure prestigious nominated posts and government appointments while sideline original Congress loyalists.
Local party insiders warned that neglecting dedicated cadres who stood by the party during its years in opposition could harm the Congress’s political prospects in the region. With internal friction rising over political appointments and administrative clout, senior leaders are calling on the party leadership to intervene and address the growing divide between old and new members to maintain organizational unity.
