Karimnagar, Oct.23 : Cotton procurement and ginning operations officially commenced at the Karimnagar Agricultural Market yard on Friday, following special ceremonial prayers to mark the inauguration of the new marketing season. The event was led by Karimnagar Agricultural Market Committee Chairman Akula Narsanna Patel, along with the market committee secretary, licensed cotton traders, ginning mill representatives, and local farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, Market Committee Chairman Akula Narsanna Patel expressed optimism that recent favorable seasonal rainfall across the region would yield substantial crop harvests for local agricultural families. He instructed market yard personnel and administrative staff to ensure that comprehensive infrastructural facilities and essential amenities are provided to farmers bringing their cotton produce to the yard, eliminating any potential operational hurdles or inconvenience.
Emphasizing the committee’s commitment to farmer welfare, Chairman Narsanna Patel stressed that the procurement process must remain entirely transparent, efficient, and well-coordinated. He directed officials to strictly enforce guidelines that guarantee minimum support prices (MSP) for agriculturalists while maintaining proper moisture standards and smooth weighing operations.
He reiterated that protecting the interests of farmers remains the primary mandate of the market committee and called for active cooperation among traders, market yard staff, and agriculturalists to ensure a seamless ginning and purchasing season. The inauguration ceremony concluded with officials inspecting the newly set up weighing scales, holding yards, and ginning arrangements to ensure full readiness for peak arrivals.
