Khammam, Oct.23 : Following directions from District Collector T.S Divakar, District Civil Supplies Officer Chandan Kumar, along with Deputy Tahsildars, conducted surprise inspections on several rice trading shops across Prakash Nagar, Church Compound, and Srinivas Nagar areas in Khammam city. The surprise drives were carried out to inspect business operations, verify inventory records, and ensure strict compliance with government trade regulations to protect consumer interests.
During the inspections, civil supplies officials thoroughly verified purchase bills, waybills, and stock registers pertaining to rice procurements sourced from Suryapet and Karimnagar districts. Officials instructed all traders to mandatorily display daily stock availability and current retail prices on display boards placed at shop entrances for public visibility. Civil Supplies Officer Chandan Kumar cautioned traders against inflating rice prices or creating artificial scarcity in the market, warning that stringent legal action would be initiated against violators under relevant regulatory statutes.
The Civil Supplies Department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining continuous market surveillance to curb illegal hoarding and unauthorized price hikes across the district. Authorities advised consumers to report any trade malpractices or overcharging to local civil supplies offices for immediate intervention.
