Huzurabad Sub-Jail Deputy Jailor and Bunk Operator Caught in ₹10,000 ACB Bribe Trap
Karimnagar, Sept. 7 : Officials from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Karimnagar Unit caught Huzurabad Sub-Jail Deputy Jailor Sri Nampally Devender (46) and petrol bunk operator Sri Ravula Harish (30) accepting a bribe of ₹10,000. The operation took place at the Indian Oil Sub-Jail Petrol Bunk in Huzurabad.
According to the ACB officials, Deputy Jailor Devender demanded the bribe to extend official favors to a remand prisoner, including providing better facilities, facilitating inmate visits (mulakhaths), and preventing his transfer to Khammam Jail.
The ACB team recovered the tainted cash directly from Harish, who collected the money on Devender’s instructions. Chemical tests conducted on both hands of Harish yielded positive results, confirming the handling of the bribe. Investigating officers stated that Devender abused his official position for undue advantage.
Both accused were taken into custody and will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases in Karimnagar. Further investigation is ongoing, and the identity of the complainant remains undisclosed for security reasons.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau urged the public to report bribery demands by calling their toll-free number 1064 or contacting them through official social media handles, assuring that all informant details will remain confidential.
