Karimnagar, Oct.19 : Former Choppadhandi MLA Sunke Ravishankar launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led state government, terming its administration “more dangerous than COVID-19” and holding Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy responsible for causing an artificial drought in Telangana. In a press statement issued at Gangadhara, the BRS leader alleged that despite abundant floodwaters flowing through the Godavari and Krishna rivers into the sea, the government failed to operationalize Kaleshwaram pump houses to secure irrigation for farmers.
Criticizing the government’s water management policy, Ravishankar stated that over 1,000 TMCs of floodwater went unutilized between June and October due to political vendetta aimed at defaming former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He argued that the state deliberately avoided repairing Medigadda barrage and running motors at Kannepalli pump house, leaving agricultural fields parched. He highlighted that farmers are currently receiving less than six hours of daily electricity, creating severe hardship ahead of the Yasangi crop season.
The former legislator outlined key demands on behalf of the BRS party, calling on the state government to immediately declare drought-affected mandals across Telangana, disburse Rythu Bharosa financial assistance, and compensate struggling farmers with ₹50,000 per acre for crop losses. Furthermore, he dismissed the government’s proposed ‘Future City’ initiative as a real estate venture intended to benefit political insiders, advising the Chief Minister to prioritize delivering on the six electoral guarantees rather than misleading the public.
