Warangal, Oct.19 : Police security personnel arrested a 24-year-old youth for impersonating an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer and attempting to gain unauthorized VIP entry at the famous Bhadrakali Temple in Warangal on Monday. The accused, identified as Bandi Sushanth, a resident of Shiva Nagar, Warangal, was apprehended by alert Quick Response Team (QRT) personnel stationed at the shrine.
According to police sources, QRT Constable M. Kiran and Constable M. Bhikshapathi spotted Sushanth moving suspiciously toward the VIP queue line wearing a navy blue t-shirt with a “POLICE” logo. When intercepted, Sushanth claimed to be an IB officer from the 2019 batch with six years of service. However, upon further verification, officers recovered two National Crime Investigation Bureau (NCIB) identity cards and a certificate from his vehicle. Matwada police immediately took him into custody in the presence of temple officials.
Matwada police registered a case (Crime No. 571/2026) under Sections 318(4) and 205 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Following the incident, Warangal Police issued strict public guidelines clarifying that organizations like NCIB are private NGOs with no legal or governmental investigative powers. Authorities instructed temple and event organizers to verify official government IDs and department passes before granting restricted access, while urging the public to report impersonators to Dial 100 or 112.
